On February 13-14 Auto Images is hosting the next edition of Malmø Doc Lab. During these two days we will run a special edition of our documentary lab, where Director and Story Consultant Geoffrey Smith is coming to Malmö to tutor at the workshop.

During these two days the six documentary projects selected for Malmø Doc Lab will go through an intense development process to identify a stronger narrative focus in each project. This is done by introductions of key narrative mechanisms by Geoffrey Smith as well as a as concrete development steps for the six selected project teams.  

Geoffrey Smith has used most of his working life as a documentary filmmaker. He has made 24 films for the BBC and UK broadcasters and then moved into feature docs winning two Emmys and over 40 major international awards with among other titles The English Surgeon.

We are now accepting submissions for this next edition of Malmø Doc Lab. If you are a documentary maker in the Öresund region currently working on a project in development, we invite you to submit a project for participation. Deadline to submit is February 2.

HOW TO SUBMIT
In order to submit a project for the Malmø Doc Lab please send us a project presentation in English containing:

• Synopsis – half a page
• Treatment and early reflections on the narrative – a full page
• A link to selected scenes, character taster or other visual material available
• An estimated time frame and total budget sum for the making of the film
• Contact details on the director and producer.

TAKING PART IN THIS EDITION OF MALMØ DOC LAB
If your project is selected to take part in Malmö Doc Lab, it will take place on February 13-14 from 09:00 to 16:30 at the office of Auto Images in Malmö. The working language of the workshop is English. The price for taking part in the workshop is SEK 1000 pr team (Director & Producer) and includes lunch and refreshments on both days.

ABOUT MALMØ DOC LAB
The Malmø Doc Lab is a documentary initiative for the regional documentary industry in the Öresund region. It is a series of project-based initiatives helping creators to bring their documentary projects to the next level. The Malmø Doc Lab is lead by Director Magnus Gertten and Producer Ove Rishøj Jensen at Auto Images. The initiative was launched in 2019 with the aim of facilitating a way for documentary makers in the Öresund region to network, exchange ideas and develop documentary projects to meet the demands for international funding, co-production and distribution.
